Capital City

Capital City, LLC is a minority, family-owned company based in the Maryland suburbs, founded by Charles and Arsha Jones. Arsha Jones was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and began to miss this sauce she grew up with when she moved to the suburbs and wanted to give her family a real taste of D.C. She regularly made mambo sauce in her kitchen for her boys and decided that it was good enough to market and sell. The Jones family has grown this home-based business into a successful company, providing a beloved product from their childhood to more people around the world.

Everything Legendary

We’re crafting food inspired by our original legend – mom. Mom went plant-based for her health, but the burgers she was eating were junk. So, we stepped up. Creating plant-based food with flavor like no other and making meals worthy of mom. Because if mom can’t eat it, no one should. We are a black-owned company and proud of what we’ve created. Proud to be leading the way for everyone craving legendary flavor.

Glory Foods was founded on a vision to make truly authentic pre-seasoned southern vegetables steeped in generations of southern-style recipes and flavors. Glory Foods officially launched its line of 17 pre-seasoned canned vegetables to a “test-market” in Columbus, OH. Several years later, they added Hot Sauce and Muffin Mix. Today, they have grown to 64 products nationwide.

Try shopper favorites, like a rib glaze using Michele's Syrups, caramel monkey bread with Mrs. Richardson's Caramel sauce or Glory Foods southern style green beans.
Ribs Glazes
Ribs Glazes
Ingredients
  • 1 (3 1/2-pounds) frying chicken, cut up, or your favorite chicken parts
  • 2 large eggs
  • Salt and pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Vegetable shortening or vegetable oil
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1/2 cup Michele Honey Crème Syrup
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • Brown paper bag
Directions
  • Rinse the chicken and pat it dry. Beat the eggs in a 9 by 13-inch dish. Lay the chicken pieces in the dish, and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Turn the chicken and season the other side, then slosh the chicken parts around in the egg until well coated. Put enough shortening or oil in a cast iron pan or electric skillet to come just halfway up the sides of the chicken parts. Heat the shortening or oil just until smoking, about 375 degrees F. Put the flour in a paper bag, add the chicken pieces, a few at a time, and shake to coat well. Remove the chicken with tongs and place it in the hot fat. Cover the pan, leaving a crack for steam to escape, lower the heat to 325 degrees F for electric skillet, and cook for 10 minutes. Turn the chicken with tongs, cover again (leaving the lid open just a crack), and cook for 10 minutes longer. Very large pieces may need to be cooked a little longer. Drain the chicken on paper towels and transfer to a platter.

History of Michele

Sunday mornings at the Hoskins home began with a gathering and a tradition of delicious homemade waffles, a variety of breakfast meats and a special concoction of honey, cream and butter that was made just for the occasion. This secret syrup recipe was created by America Washington, a former slave, and the great, great, great grandmother of the only daughter in the household, Michele Hoskins. America Washington created the recipe in the 1800s as an alternative to molasses for her plantation owner’s family.
